Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Lesson #5: Caring is not a strategy

Chances are you launched your charity initiative because you care deeply about an issue that affects the public good. You channel your heart into something because you can’t shake the feeling that you might leave your corner of the world better off. This passion gets your organization off the ground, inspires donors and volunteers and underpaid staff to rally. This passion is essential. But it’s not enough.

Success doesn’t automatically flow from hard work and good ideas. If you care - really, truly, deeply care - about making a difference, then you need to be ruthless about strategy.

Strategy means you have a vision and a plan to get there. It means you think about the resources you have and how you are allocating and try to be as efficient and effective as possible. It means you make mistakes and learn from them and get stronger over time. Caring helps you set a goal; strategy helps you reach it.
